Speech Preperation

On Monday we are giving a speech about our topics, and I have a few key points that I want to make sure I cover in my speech. First I want to cover my topic, which is an app designed to be a useful planning tool for high school and college students. I'm going to share my inspiration for the app, I'm also going to make sure to make the presentation short and precise without dragging it on. I'm hoping that people will add their input and help me further refine my idea.

Fine Tuning My Idea

A few weeks ago I had a couple of peers look over my idea and they gave me feedback. My first peer looked over the idea and t\he had quite a few ideas about how I could improve my idea. He talked about the possible difficulties with the idea, and also the complications of such a complex app. The second person seemed like they really liked the idea, he thought that the idea would be very helpful and he would defiantly use it. My final idea is going to be to make an app, most likely it will probably be something less complex than my original idea, because this will be my first app.

Getting the Ball Rolling

I watched a few videos provided by my teacher, I learned about he endless possibilities that "Blueprint to Brilliance" provide. These got me looking for myself for videos that would help me get started. One of the main people that I have been focusing on is Kevin Systrom, the co-founder of instagram, he learned to code at night in his spare time, and sold his app for almost 1 billion dollars, so anything is possible. This video is the two founders of instagram talking about their challenges and myths surrounding start ups.

It was very informative and interesting and related back to my topic in more than one way because they began in their spare time and created an app, sort of how Im learning this in my spare time now. 

The Idea

So this is my first post on my new blog for genius hour. My idea for a project right now is to create an app for IOS and Android that is a management/planning app that could be used by high school students to keep track of things such as clubs, sports, and assignments. I think this is going to be a neat and interesting experience and I hope I can make a difference for busy high school or college students.
